FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

The Construction Partnership Program (CPP) is a joint agency effort to coordinate an unprecedented number of infrastructure improvement projects that will affect Central Texans and those traveling through Central Texas for years to come. These construction projects translate into more than $20 billion in funding committed to make travel in Central Texas safer and more reliable.

CPP Partners include the City of Austin, CapMetro, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT,) Austin Transit Partnership, Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA,) Travis County, and the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO).

CPP will serve the Central Texas region, which includes Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, Caldwell, and Burnet counties.

In the next ten years, more than 35 major construction projects will be underway, and Central Texans will benefit from partnerships and coordination between all the agencies building these large infrastructure improvements.

For example, I-35, Mopac Expressway, Congress Avenue and Lamar Boulevard are all anticipated to be under construction simultaneously. This could cause disruptions for north and south travel in Austin. Through the CPP, the agencies building these projects would be able to identify major conflicts and impacts in advance, and then proactively notify the public of roadway travel conditions, giving Central Texas drivers the ability to plan their routes around construction work.

CPP’s mission is simple. Keep Central Texans safe, moving, and informed during this period of major construction during the next decade. CPP aims to streamline communication and enhance coordination among transportation agencies in order to help people manage the impacts of construction on their daily lives. Together, the CPP partners hope to set the foundation for long-term interagency success in delivering these important mobility and safety projects for Central Texas.

CPP will be a one-stop resource for travelers to get updated information and inquire about construction work, road closures and detours. Many times, travelers don’t know which agency is responsible for construction along different roadways, and this will help the public avoid being transferred back and forth between multiple agencies trying to find the right place for their questions.

We are currently developing a public information platform where the public will be able to find construction and road closure information in one easy-to-use location.
